  • 1m1f 153yds Handicap | 8 runners

    Timeform 1-2-3

1 Maroon, white star on back only, white sleeves, maroon cap, white star Street Act (USA)
2 Gold, black braces and star on cap Exploratory (USA)
3 Gold, black braces, sleeves and star on cap Ukrainian (IRE)

    Timeform view

A competitive handicap to start the season. Street Act is the choice of Royston Ffrench and is now only 3 lb higher than when winning easily here on his return last season. Ukrainian also has solid claims for Ali Rashid Al Raihe, he too is off a workable mark, though the unexposed Exploratory should have more to offer this year and is preferred for second.

  • 7f 210yds Handicap | 10 runners

    Timeform 1-2-3

1 Maroon, white stripe and sleeves, maroon cap with 2 white stripes Need To Know (SAF)
2 Red and yellow stripes, white sleeves, black stars, black cap. Resolute Response (IRE)
3 Black, brown, grey, yellow and white hooped Light Burst (USA)

    Timeform view

A race which seems to lack depth and preference is for Need To Know, who was in fantastic form last season, including winning here in February. Resolute Response isn't bred for dirt but was useful for Dermot Weld and has joined highly-respected connections, while Light Burst also switches stable and should go close if handling dirt this time.

  • 4f 214yds Handicap | 8 runners

    Timeform 1-2-3

1 Royal blue, white epaulets, striped cap Fityaan
2 Royal blue, white epaulets and cap Mujaazef
3 Dark blue, large yellow spots Zalzilah

    Timeform view

The fitness and wellbeing of most of these has to be taken on trust and a chance is taken on Fityaan, an inconsistent but talented performer on his day. His nose second to Take Ten in a listed contest over C&D in March makes him a major player. Mujaazef was a close fifth that day and a repeat of that should see him go close, while it wouldn't take much for Zalzilah to be involved on UAE debut.

  • 4f 214yds Maiden Stakes | 11 runners

    Timeform 1-2-3

1 Maroon, white star on back only, white sleeves, yellow cap Rochester
2 Maroon, white double sash and sleeves, black cap Mutahaddith
3 Black, white chevron, red sleeves, white stars, red cap Marhi (USA)

    Timeform view

Rochester is selected on debut for the Doug Watson yard. He improved from his first run when fifth at Lingfield for Saeed bin Suroor and really wouldn't have to progress much more to take this. Ali Rashid Al Raihe's newcomer Mutahaddith appeals more than most, while Marhi, who was runner-up in this last year, may have to settle for a minor role once again.

  • 7f Maiden Stakes | 10 runners

    Timeform 1-2-3

1 Dark green, beige stars on sleeves. Borak (IRE)
2 Royal blue. New Strategy (IRE)
3 Purple, gold braid, scarlet sleeves, black velvet cap, gold fringe. Awesome Power

    Timeform view

Borak very much caught the eye on debut at Nottingham 3 weeks ago, making headway on the bridle before tiring onn the heavy ground, and above-average improvement can be expected. New Strategy also made a promising start at Redcar, while Awesome Power and Greatest Hits look the pick of the newcomers.
